I win! I win!

After winning awards the last two years from the American Society of Journalists and Authors, I was thinking to myself yesterday morning that I hadn’t heard anything yet. This year seemed like it wasn’t going to be the year. Not two hours later, I got a phone call from the awards committee, telling me that I’d won Best Business/Tech Story for my Boston Globe Magazine piece  Clawing Back. I was surprised; I thought a different piece I’d submitted, Hotbed, had a better shot at winning. Then she told me that Hotbed was given an Honorable Mention in the same category.

I couldn’t really let myself get excited – I had a conference call that was about to happen. But while the moment was blunted, there’s a good warm glow going now.
