The future of Microsoft
I had lunch with Peter O’Kelley the other day, and one thing we talked about was why Microsoft was in better position than one might think, given all the noise about Google and Web 2.0 and such. For one thing, Microsoft is a first and foremost a software company, while Google is first and foremost an advertising firm. For another, Adobe AIR might matter more in the Web 2.0 world than AJAX, the horse Google’s backing.
It will be telling to see what Mary Jo Foley says in her book on Microsoft’s future, due out next spring.
